Free SAT and ACT resources can help you prep for these important tests! For the majority of US universities and colleges, a strong test score on either the SAT or ACT is an asset to any student’s application. Though there are test-optional pathways for admission to selective US universities, Vela Education advisers are still recommending that students prepare for, and sit, at least one official test. If your score is strong this can increase your chances of being admitted to certain schools!
Before you commit to sitting these tests, use some of the high-quality free resources available online. The College Board, the company that administers both the SAT and AP Exams offers free tests on their website. These are past official exams and help students understand the kinds of questions they will need to answer and the format of the test. Taking full length practice tests is a part of any thorough test-prep plan. The ACT website also has sample test questions for each of its four sections! These are totally free resources that can give you a clear sense of each test’s expectations so you can prepare accordingly.
Other organisations also have free SAT and ACT test prep materials. Khan Academy has been a leader in offering high quality free materials including full length tests, drills, and strategy lessons. You can find their SAT materials here. If you are interested in free resources for the ACT, we recommend Prep Scholar! For students who wat test-prep on their android phones, Varsity Tutors has launched an app! You can find more info about that here!
Students should feel reassured that there are ample materials to help them prepare for these exams. If you prefer a personalised plan developed with a private tutor, Vela Education is proud to partner with some of the most experienced tutors in the UK and Europe.
